Sitting in our drive is a car with the same name as the one l ordered October 2019 but it’s not the car l ordered or would have ordered in its current spec. I ordered a Citroen C5 Aircross Flair+ and on that October morning l got out of the test drive car and said yes it’s everything l wanted. Particularly a panoramic roof and dash cam hidden behind the drivers mirror with electric boot and less important but equally useful toys. A short time later we had a call saying the engine we ordered on the garages computer system did not exist and we had to have a diesel not a petrol engine. I reluctantly agreed to the change of engines- ONLY the engine was talked about. Fast forward to the pandemic, delivery is delayed which is not a fault of the garage. The world moves on and we arrive at October 2020. We get a call to say the car is coming and by the way do we know the spec has changed- yes we do-it’s got a diesel not petrol engine, that’s right says whomever called. My husband collects it, he’s happy as it has four wheels and is grey, so signs for the thing and brings it home in the dark. The following morning l look at it and it’s the wrong car. No panoramic roof, no dash cam and as we have no manual with it who knows what else it does or doesn’t have. I ring up and say it’s not right, the garage seem perplexed and ultimately as we are now a few weeks in to this saga they don’t care. I have had a Citroen before and as individuals the people are lovely but Elim as an entity either doesn’t care or isn’t allowed too by Citroen. It seems in the interim Citroen took away things that where standard when l ordered the car and they are now extras. This car won out over a Peugeot 3008 because of the dash cam & panoramic roof-both are missing. I would have picked the 3008 if this delivered spec car had been on offer in October 2019. What’s this all leading too, well we are stuck with this thing for three years, the garage will not be dealing with me in that period as l will disgrace myself by getting very cross. Every time the sun shines in the summer l will be reminded l was sold something that l had not wanted and get upset all over again. I am cross but the overriding feeling about this whole episode is one of extreme disappointment that Elim, Citroen or both, just care so little about what they do. Below l have to give one star but as the car is not what l ordered really it should be no stars in each section. Finally, it was mentioned in the garage to my husband that it a review of 9 or above is give about them he would get £200. We have not had the £200 for obvious reasons, if they want to bride us for a good review they’d have to add a nought to that.
