Insulting part exchange price.

Just before I start. I am not some moaning person who expects a fortune for their car when part exchanging them. Yes, everybody wants top money, who wouldn't. However, after working in the industry and buying a different car every year (I know, a sales man's dream) I am pretty clued up on values etc and just expect a fair price. Many garages use CAP to give you a valuation on your car plus maybe a few other things. However, in my experience, it is a very good guide of current market value for your part exchange - in my opinion! It has always given me a good estimate sometimes a bit more, sometime a little less. To cut a long story short they offered me £1000 below book value even though my car is in excellent condition, full history, low miles, hpi clear etc etc. Now you might be thinking it was a 30-40k price car and that can have a bigger fluctuation on PX values? No it was a 6k car and they offered 5k. Their reason - They never pay CAP value? It was a different brand to Toyota? plus a couple of other rubbish reasons. It was £1000 less than anywhere else! Including webuyanycar etc. Then, when I emailed them calling them out on such a pathetic valuation they never replied. The really great thing is though.... You can walk away and never use them again.
