Buyer beware

Having recently purchased a used vehicle from this dealer I would like to warn others of what to expect. The purchase itself went ok. However, I asked if the vehicle had any damage and was told that apart from a few stone chips it was excellent. (Read boot problem below). I travelled from Northumberland to purchase the vehicle so as it was a good 400 mile round trip I needed to trust the honesty of the sales person get sorted and get back home. The vehicle looked good so I bought it. First problem I had was that I needed to remove my personalised number plate. No problem they said, we will have a new made up for you. I got home only to realise that the plate had the wrong number on it. I contacted the sales person that dealt with me and was told they would get another one straight out to me. Four days later having not received it I rang and was told the sales person was not in but would contact me the next day. There was no contact the following day so I rang again and was told that the person who made up the plates had been off (likely story), the truth that they had probably forgotten would have been much better. I was told that the plate would be sent out to me that day. Five days later still no plate. Rang again, told that the sales person who had been dealing with me no longer worked there but the used car manager would contact me the next day. No contact the next day so I rang again. Told that he was off due to a funeral and would ring me the next day. No contact, again. Appalling service. Getting sick of this by now so I went onto the Holdcroft Warrington Honda site and emailed them quoting one of their sales promises (Respond quickly whenever and however you contact us) and how I have been let down my them. This provoked a response and the used car sales manager rang me. I have been promised a new plate by the middle of next week, won’t hold my breath. Back to the condition of the vehicle. Having returned home I found that there was a break in the plastic well compartment cover in the boot causing it to sag which I had not been told about. So much for another of their promises (Be open and transparent). The solution made to me by the sales manager was to return the vehicle and it would be repaired. Not really helpful when it would mean doing a 400 mile round trip from one area in lockdown to another area in lockdown. Another promise up in flames. (Always respect your time). Surely the better suggestion would have been to take it to a local Honda dealer and charge the repair to Holdcroft. The fact of the matter is surely that the repair should have been done prior to the sale of the vehicle. Whoops, there goes another promise. (Take responsibility for our actions). To top it all of I also questioned the completion of the V5 form as I had received my retention slip for my number plate and received the V5 for the car that I traded in(yes, that’s right but not going into that one!). However, I have not received the V5 for the vehicle that I bought. Having raised this issue it seems that this had not been completed and I was told that it would be chased up. So at the moment I have no confirmation from the DVLC that the vehicle actually belongs to me. So overall another sales promise in tatters.( A culture with values that put customers at ease in their purchasing journey). So, I will leave it up to you when deciding whether to purchase your next vehicle from Holdcroft Honda.
