Cowboy Car Dealers
I saw a Mercedes e320 online at manoroakcars.co.uk during Covid and it had about 20 photos, and looked amazing. However, when I went to pick up the car, 200 miles away, I found the car was not as described. The car had lots of issues from day one. Firstly, it had 4 bald tyres which i only noticed after going to put air in to drive home from the garage, as one tyre was completely flat. It had minor scratches everywhere, big noticable cracks in the front and back bumpers, 2 small, but noticable dents in the body work, 3 inch cracks in the dashboard, a half hanging off bonnet lever, a bonnet that didnt shut on one side, the car itself was covered in moss, dirt and dried up leaves, and a badly chipped windshield - nothing like the photo at all, and would never pass an MOT if it went in for inspection that day. BUT the advert photo showed it was clean, shiny, immaculate even. In fact the ad said the car was in "excellent condition" and that wasnt the worst part. Thew worst was yet to come. As I had already paid a substantial non refundable deposit and travelled all the way there on a £150 one way train tickert, plus £20 taxi fare, and considering the time of day, getting there etc and getting back, I just took the car and thought I would resolve it when I got home as the car was repairable despite the issues and the only train tickets left were over £250 at a riddiculous time of night, so I just took the car which I had paid for and didnt ask for my money back on the day. As I drove home on the motorway, thats when I was afraid. The car steering wheel shook violently over 60mph and I my heart sank. This car was meant to be for my family so we could get about etc. It was at that point I realised I made a mistake buying it, so when I got home I went to the local mechanic who said the work was around £1500 to put it all right, including repraying, filling, tyres, bonnet lever, bonnet clip, wheel tracking, balencing, servicing, etc. So I paid the mechanic to put it right and asked the garage to contribute to this. They refused, so I issed a MCOL and got a CCJ against them.
