We purchased a Fiat Doblo at the beginning of July from Motorspeed Portsmouth as my husband has Motor Neurone Disease and we could no longer get him in and out of our car. I asked if we could negotiate the price down a little but was told this was not possible. I have subsequently discovered that the car was overpriced by about £500. A few days after we had put a deposit on the car, my, husband was taken into a hospice on the Wednesday for 2 weeks respite for pain management so I transferred the balance of the money and collected the car on the Friday whilst he was there. On the Monday we were told that my husband had only a week to live. I therefore did not need the car. On the Thursday I contacted Motorspeed to explain our sad situation and to ask if the car could be taken back for a similar amount, less direct expenses, as I had not used it and did not need it. I know there is no obligation for the car to be taken back, but surely a little human compassion would not go amiss. However, Motorspeed did not want the car back, and after my son had also asked for us to be looked kindly on, we were offered £2500 less than the purchase price. Such a huge loss in less than 7 days. I could not recommend this company to anyone as I feel that they are heartless and unhelpful. Thank goodness the staff at the hospice have been able to restore my faith in human kindness. It does still exist, but not at Motorspeed in Portsmouth.
