Bad experience with PSJ Automotive

***** BUYER DISCRETION ADVISED ***** Purchased a 10 year old Vauxhall Astra (with 106,000 miles on the clock) from PSJ automotive in Sept 2019 the vehicle was advertised as being in 'Excellent Condition' and with a 'Full Service History' The vehicle didn't have any service history and neither was it in excellent condition. A warning light came on the day after purchasing the vehicle (initially I thought it was a service light so didn't report it for a couple of weeks when my local garage pointed out it was a warning light) for glow plug issues, the vehicle didn't drive smoothly and frequently stalled/idled roughly at slow speed. The fuel filter was full of debris (dealer's own mechanic changed this), the air filter when we (my own garage) changed it looked like it hadn't been changed for 3-5 years and the inside of the oil filter completely crumbled into pieces (my own garage said it was the worst state of any oil filter they had ever seen). Dealership asked me to take the vehicle back in several times, most visits resulted in nothing being addressed/fixed and I had to continually call/chase to get anything progressed. Eventually the computer socket where garages plug in their laptops to read error codes was fixed and the EGR valve was replaced (partially sorted out the stalling at slow speed/rough idling unfortunately despite many calls/emails/garage visits and trying to help the dealership by booking the car into a local garage near me (who the dealership instructed independently). The glow plug issue remains unresolved nearly 7 months after the time of purchase. Sometimes you don't see what garage managers/owners are trying to do until it's too late.....in this case the minute we hit the 6 months mark the dealer tried to claim that an issue that has existed for the last 6 months is a brand new issue and that he is able to offer no further support on the matter because he has 'fulfilled his legal obligations' (something both me and my solicitor don't agree with the dealership)......I expected better and if I had known the dealer was going to try and go down this route I wouldn't have let him stall the process on so many occasions and I would have kept on top of him more (6 weeks to not get an auto electrician sorted with a long list of excuses is one example). I would recommend to anyone dealing with PSJ to put all communication in writing/email so you have a record of what you send and also get written confirmation from PSJ on everything they say/claim.
