Refuses to refund my deposit.
I contacted R & R Ltd on the phone regarding a black smart fortwo which they have for sale and had it advertised as in good condition. spoke to the owner of the business and asked him to pinpoint any problems the car may have so that I didn't get any surprises when I arrived to collect the car. The owner replied that the only problem the car had was slight scratches on the drivers door and some on the right front bumper. Based on this trustworthy information I proceeded to give him a £200 deposit which was transferred to his account. Arrived at R&R to view, to my surprise below is a list of very visible faults. 1) Hole in drivers seat. 2) door lock damaged, 3) aircon not working, 4) front light had water in it and not working, 5) hooter not working, 6) front light lever switch damaged, 7) plastic steering cover broken, 8) Both rear mudguard trims falling off, 9) Passenger side skirt falling off, 10) Car registered as CAT N which he omitted to advertise or say. Refuses to refund my deposit because he says that's what I should expect from a 12 year old car although he completely omitted these faults including that the car was written off by the insurance over the phone. Should he have been honest before, I wouldn't have given him the £200 deposit, but this dealer omitted 10 out of 12 faults and took my deposit.
