Very poor all round

We travelled over 250 miles to purchase a car (a non-VW trade-in), to find the worst prepared car I have ever seen. We found a performance modification on the car that no-one could explain, and the advertised service history turned out to be virtually non-existent. This was evidently one example of an uncared for car and the only solution offered was to wait while a quick service was carried out or leave it. We left and purchased elsewhere. A subsequent list of my observations to VW customer service resulted in an eventual, rather breezy apology from a sales manager. I had paid a deposit and even the return of this was handled badly, only being sorted after one week by an extremely helpful advisor called Camilla. The suggestion from the sales manager that hopefully I would have a better experience next time was laughable, regardless of distance. I would have expected far higher standards from a VW main dealer and would not consider any further purchase from Inchcape or recommendation to others.
