Went above and beyond

Short version: Amazingly helpful and lovely people. Gave us more than we asked for, and bent over backwards to help us drive away happy. After going to see another car elsewhere (disinterested salesperson, knackered car), we went to Apollo after seeing a car online. We got lucky that they had it in the showroom - they have far more cars than they can show at any one time so call ahead! After seeing the car we had a great test drive and agreed the deal. They then bent over backwards to get the car ready so we could drive off that day, even putting more fuel in after the deal was agreed as they knew we had a way to drive. And they threw in a tire foam thing for punctures... totally free. Super lovely people too. Unfortunately, despite a great long test drive, halfway home (~100 miles) a warning light came on. Turns out that a long motorway drive and revealed something no one had known about. As the mechanic put it "Only a long steady drive would have caused it". We took it to a local garage the next day - something related to recycling air in the engine. Killed the turbo (so no power) and worked out to be about £800 to fix. Luckily... (or so we thought), we had the 3rd party warranty. The garage talked them through it and they refused to pay since the issue began the day of the sale. Fortunately... the dealership didn't quibble once. They said yes to footing the bill immediately when the mechanic rang them. And shortly after I got the most apologetic call directly from them. No-one could have known about it, even by the mechanics own judgement. But they didn't hesitate to pay for it to be resolved regardless. I know they have an obligation within 3 months, but none the less they were great. Overall just really nice, trustworthy people that genuinely seemed more interesting in seeing us off happy than anything else. Can't recommend Apollo Cars of Whitchurch enough.
