Worst car dealership - do not buy
Worst car dealership - do not buy from Loookers Land Rover. I really don't know where to start with my experience at Colchester Lookers Land Rover...from the wrong millage being advertised to the car breaking down every few weeks, parts of my car being lost while it's in for repairs, getting charged for the courtesy car that was supposed to be covered by Land Rover, me telling them I can hear something wrong with the car and they say it's fine, then a few months later they tell me they heard the noise a major part of the car is broken, the constant lies they tell, the ignoring you and then when I've had enough (the car is in for repairs every few weeks so what's the point of having a car you can't rely on or drive half the time. I've spent so much money on taxis going to and from the lookers garage) they buy the car back at a low price, don't pay me for it for over a week and then have it advertised for more money I brought it for without paying me for it. I honestly wish I'd walked away from this car after I'd paid the deposit and checked the paperwork and saw it was advertised with much lower mileage than it was advertised with. Since selling the car I've been contacted by a company who check the millage on cars as they think this car has had the millage tampered with which wouldn't surprise me as this dealership is a joke. The staff at Lookers lie to your face time and time again: Karl told me the car would come with a year full service, so it wouldn't need servicing again for a full year - this was a lie, it needed servicing after just over half a year. The service staff accused me of losing the wheel locking bolt when the car had been in for about 3 weekends one after the other with the wheels taken off to do the work needed, they even went and asked the mechanic and who said they had to use the master bolt...as if he remembers with all the cars they see week after week. Either they lost it for the car didn't come with it in the first place. I told the service team I could hear a knocking noise when I drove the car, they couldn't find anything wrong with it or hear the knocking and then a few months later when the car was in for various problems I was told the drive shaft has snapped and needed replacing. In May I had a warning light appear on the dashboard and the exhaust filter needed to be replaced. Someone came out to do this on the roadside but couldn't so the car went into Lookers to be fixed. Lookers/LandRover were supposed to arrange to pick the car up as I was told it was unsafe to drive but no one contacted me so I had to chase this up and a few days later the car was picked up. Lookers said they had no idea they had to pick the car up. As I couldn't drive the car I got a courtesy car when I left the car a week later Enterprise charged me for the courtesy car with no warning or no invoice. About £400 was taken from my account. After speaking to LandRover and Lookers I received a refund for this about two weeks after the money was taken as I should never have been charged for this. Lookers blamed Enterprise but Enterprise sent me on the email from Lookers telling them to charge myself so again another lie from Lookers. When I went to sell the car back Karl gave me his 'best price' which was £8k less than I brought the car 8 months previous. Mark then upped this to a better price so it was not the 'best price given by Karl. (If you contact Mark expect to be ignored for weeks and you only get a reply when you complain to the main Land Rover business) I was told by Daniel when I dropped my car off for them to buy it back off me the money would be in my account in three working day- it was actually 6 working days and they had the car up for sale again after 3 days. When you take your car in for any work about a week after various warning lights will appear so you have to go back and get them turned off - this is the quality of the work they do. They make more problems to your car every time it goes in. The staff on the service desk are either dead behind the eyes or very defensive. If you are lucky you'll get Alfie and he is actually the best person working at Lookers Land Rover, he's really helpful. He calls when he says he will and he gets things sorted for you. I was very lucky and had an extended warranty when I brought the car, if I didn't have this I would have had to spend about £5000 fixing the car in 11months. I'd be very very very warry of buying a car from this dealership as it'll be a constant headache!
