Service Dept rip off of lone female!
A few months back I bought my daughter a 2013 Tiguan with 58,000 miles and a full service history from Marshall VW in Taunton. The car had been well looked after and had *Pirelli Scorpion Verde M+S tyres fitted in May 2019 with less than 3000 miles on them. *Gearbox oil and filter change at 45,000 miles. *Brake fluid flushed and renewed Nov 2018. *Last service by a VW independent Nov 2018. *New Bosch wiper blades fitted September 2019. My daughter booked her car in with the Service Department at Marshall’s for a routine oil change service a few days ago. She then received a call from the Service Dept informing her that her tyres were close to the legal limit, her brake pads needed replacing, the gearbox oil and filter required changing, brake fluid needed changing and her wiper blades should be replaced. So close to £700 to put all the “identified faults and service items” right! Luckily her boyfriend is an Automotive Engineer. He spoke on the phone and Marshall’s agreed to carry out the oil change service as requested. When they went to pick the car up she noticed that they charged her for windscreen wash even though she had filled it completely the day before. They immediately removed this from the bill. No apology for trying to gain extra money for work that just didn’t need doing. So, if you are a lone female or someone who doesn’t know that much about cars you need to avoid these cowboys like the plague! Unprofessional rip off merchants hiding behind their main dealership status
