Poor service for the first time

I had a problem with radio interference and this was investigated at a cost to me of £42. Platts of Marlow Ford said they had cleaned the connectors on the antenna, but if the trouble persisted I would need a complete new lead. Obviously this would cost hundreds of pounds as it would involve removing the roof lining, windscreen pillar trim, and half the dashboard. I bought a new aerial as the old one had perished rubber, but there was no improvement. I then went to buy an antenna base, that fits on the roof, but was told this fitting was obsolete and I'd need to buy a complete unit and lead. I subsequently bought the part I wanted for £4.20 on eBay! With a tutorial from YouTube I removed the air filter box to check the HT leads and found one corroded. After cleaning it and the connector on the coil pack I applied WD40 and reassembled the lead. The interference on the radio is completely cured. I should add that the air filter box was very difficult to remove, and it seems unlikely it has been off for several years, yet I was charged for new spark plugs last year. I'm sorry to say that because I have an old car they do not seem inclined to want to bother with it any more.
