AVOID DEALERSHIP!
STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS CAR DEALERSHIP!! I purchased a BMW 320d from Applecross Motors on the 15-05-2019 after seeing the ad on Auto Trader. Fast forward a couple of months and there is a strange noise coming from the car as if there is a hole in the exhaust when accelerating. I phoned the warranty company which came with car (Scotsure warranty) and gave a description of the problem. I was told to take the car to a garage to get a diagnosis. I took the car to Milton Motors and explained the issue, they advised that the noise was coming from the timing chain area (see picture for invoice) but the car would need dismantled from a BMW specialist for further investigation. At this point very concerned I emailed Keith from Applecross motors relaying this information whilst also explaining that I am currently very disabled and on the double transplant list and need the vehicle to attend hospital appointments and potentially a transplant. I was told by Keith that the information was not enough and to take the vehicle to another garage. I took the car to a second garage (Ferguslie Garage) They also said that the noise was coming from the timing chain area, the car would need dismantled and could cost upwards of £3000 as the engine would need to be taken out (see picture 2 for invoice) Now even more concerned I relayed again this information to Keith. He reluctantly agrees to take the car back but says ‘Im not taking it to a BMW specialist as I don’t want to spend the money’ so he has ‘friends’ look at the car. He then tells me that the rattling coming from the engine is ‘normal’ and to continue driving the car. My guess is, the warranty would run out in a month and hope that the car lasts until then. It would not be himself left with the repairs which I find shocking. Keith said that the rattling was not quite bad enough to fix and any repairs would be ‘preventative’ and as he is a small business, he would not be able to afford to fix it. Do not sell cars if you cannot afford the aftercare or repairs once the car has been sold. I went back to Ferguslie garage and was told under no circumstances was I to drive the car. If the timing chain comes loose the car would need a new engine costing upwards of £5000. The car is now sitting out on the street of Applecross Motors because there is ‘not enough space’. At this moment, im currently suspended from the transplant list as I have no form of transport. Trading standards have now taken over. Do not buy from this dealership if you would like your car to be in working order for more than 3 months. AVOID!!
