You live and learn, I did the hard way..
You live and learn and I certainly have. I set my mind on a Honda Jazz and end of April / beginning of May I had one transported from Arnold Clark Dundee to a showroom in Salford, something I will never ever do again. Although the car appeared good and very low mileage I should have inspected it much more thoroughly especially underneath. I have been extremely ill & hospitalised and the car once home was parked on road outside our house on tarmac for some months. When I was well enough and able to look it over properly it was obvious on closer inspection that the car had been parked on grass by a previous owner as the underside has a lot more rust than a car should have for the age that does not agree with what was said on the video. The car had not been valeted properly as there was a lot of dried mud caked under rear wings and arches which did not come from the drive home which was all the use I had given it. Also of all places there is bubbling paintwork in 2 places on the roof with rust showing through. The video of the car they say little scuffs and corrosion on the alloys but the rears of all wheels are so corroded that when it came to getting the wheels off they were stuck on with corrosion and a hammer and long screwdriver was needed to free them plus most of the coating is hanging off. I now have to get someone to clean the rust, treat it and underseal under the car and also replace the 4 alloy wheels as they are plagued with slow leaks due to the corrosion, 3 of which have been looked at locally at cost but I was told if they still lose air then I will need new wheels. The costs so far are conservatively at least £500 to replace wheels and clean, treat rust and seal the underside. I was told they do not usually transport a car of its value but they would on this occasion. Now I know why, they saw me coming! Never again. So buyer beware! As an update I have just found another issue that was not pointed out on the videos they sent me and that is that there is a crack to the lower/under front nearside plastic bumper which has been repaired and sprayed over but is visible. Also costs have now gone up to around £600 as I have to replace front and rear discs and pads due to the rust. There was an element of trust I had hoped in a major dealer and wanted to sort a newer car out before going into hospital for major surgery as I knew it would be many months before being fit enough to do so after my operation so mistakenly placed my trust in Arnold Clark. Below is my previous review.... P.S. I decided to email the CEO of Arnold Clarke to see what response that gets and to see how much Arnold Clark truly prides it's customer satisfaction but I can guess the outcome
