Stay clear of these
Bought a car from Dunfermline Motor Company last November, trading my pristine pride and joy on for a more practical family car for the arrival of our newborn. John and Nicole couldn’t have been any nicer which quickly changed after we had actually made the purchase! Found what we thought was the perfect car and picked it up. Only to find a day later that the gearbox was making an horrible noise. When we called the garage to inform them as the car was under warranty we were told that they couldn’t fix it until after Christmas, with the noise getting louder and more constant everyday we started only using the car if we really needed to as we still had nearly a month to wait for it to be repaired. After phoning the garage and asking if they could maybe get it looked at sooner as my partner who was pregnant at the time getting stranded somewhere with a broken down car and I got a very rude Nicole on the other side of the phone shouting and swearing. Finally the car was looked at and they arranged to book it in to have work done the next week, when we took the car to get repaired they had it for 2 days leaving us with no car! Once we went to collect the car I queried what had been done to it and if it was fixed and was answered by Nicole again in a rude and aggressive manner saying I don’t know ‘something in the gearbox or something’. On the drive home I immediately noticed the noise was still present but by this time the garage was closed for the night and would contact them in the morning. My partner had an appointment first thing in the car and I noticed a massive puddle on the driveway when she left and when I checked what it was it was gearbox fluid that had leaked from the car! We immediately took the car back to the garage and were told by John that the garage maybe haven’t tightened something properly or something? At this point we asked him what garage it was and he wouldn’t tell us where the car was being repaired and we still to this day don’t know where it was getting worked on. We got the car back again after a week of renting cars! BUT unbelievably still with a noise and this time I informed Nicole before even driving the car away and had her in the street shouting and swearing at me saying she couldn’t hear it when it was an obvious noise that she seemed to think was normal and all cars do it! So me and my partner was was in tears at this point left again leaving the car with the garage until the morning so we could speak with John. We told him we were not accepting the car and he agreed to take it back and refund us which he had to do by giving us cash back because our perfectly good car we traded he had already sold on! After all that we were stuck with no car! A partner that was heavily pregnant stressed and no transport!! Avoid this garage at all costs, no one wants this kind of service and no one wants the abuse we had to endure on the phone and in the middle of the street from what’s supposed to be a reputable used car dealership!!
