Dreadful in every respect

I went to Wheels Deals to look at a car for my son. I recognised and understood that the car had not been prepped for sale and saw it in torrential rain. I noticed and pointed out a dent in the driver’s door and a large patch of missing paint on the bumper. I was told that these would be repaired. I agreed to a £200 holding deposit and called the following Friday to be told that the car would be ready for a test drive on the Monday. We arranged that I would test the car and, if all OK, would take it away on the Tuesday. On Tuesday, I set off from Buckinghamshire and called Wheels Deals on the way as a belt and braces. I called four times. Not once was the call answered, not even by a message taker or even an answer phone. I arrived to be told that the car had an electrical fault and might be ready later in the day. It wasn’t. No one at Wheels Deals had had the basic courtesy to call me and save me a long wasted journey. It was agreed that Wheels Deals would bring the car to me, which they did on the following Friday. The dent in the door had not been repaired. The large patch of missing paint was not repaired. There was a rip in the passenger seat which was not there when I first saw the car. The Salesman told me that he would drop the price a little to allow me to buy touch up paint from Halfords! I was told that they would send me an AA check certificate – they did not. I was told that the car had a full service history. The Service book showed no service for the last 25,000 miles. Unsurprisingly, I did not go ahead with the purchase I have called their Accounts Department three times, requesting the return of the £200 holding deposit; each time being told that someone would call me back. Needless to say, nobody has. They are patently hoping that I will forget the £200 and go away. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
