Excellent car, poor customer care
I purchased a Hilux from Robin Ward 4x4 last year, and due to problems with obtaining the relevant visas, Robin agreed to 'house' the hilux until I was able to get it shipped, at an agreed weekly rate. Robin also allowed us to come and add some parts to the car on one occasion. After some months, with both of us becoming frustrated at the delay of paperwork (Africa) I agreed to just pay the VAT and take it off his hands. I made sure that I paid the storage charges that more than covered the period of storage. The process of trying to arrange somebody to pick up the Hilux on my behalf (being in Africa) was where it went seriously wrong. Robin was not happy, and after giving me an expletive filled, abusive phone call he became completely uncooperative from that point. He utterly refused to let the car of his hands (even in person) without an 'interest' payment of £500! (This figure was plucked out of the air during an angry phone call) No explanation was ever given for this but he refused to let the car go without it, and not wanting to incur solicitors bills from where I was, I was forced to pay. The Hilux is in good shape, and drives nicely, but if you encounter any problems with this seller, be prepared for a very difficult time.
