Great service dept. Sales not so good.
Always found the service department to be excellent with the various Mercedes I have owned over recent years. The sales department at Mercedes of Bury St Edmunds leaves a lot to be desired however. This isn't to criticise the individual salesmen who work there, rather the 'maximise profit at all costs' culture which seems to pervade the place as characterised by high asking prices coupled with low trade-in offers. At each car change over recent years I have visited my local Mercedes Bury St Edmunds dealership (previously Robinsons, now apparently owned by a bunch of Americans) to try to negotiate the purchase of a car using my current car as a trade-in. Each time without fail the trade-in offer has been so derisory as to be insulting. On my most recent visit the offer was some £800 less than We Buy Any Car's cash offer and £1400 less than the value from Mercedes UK's own website. So needless to say, and yet again, Mercedes Bury St Edmunds won't be getting my business. Thankfully there are MB dealers around who are prepared to deal fairly and honestly so once again, I'll be going to one of them.
