Avoid at all costs

I’ve dealt with Mercedes of Bury St. Edmunds for at least 5 years with a C Class and now an E Class. I travel around 50,000 miles a year and have a service/maintenance plan via Mercedes. There are some really nice people here but sadly my experiences of this garage over the five years are now at an end as I’ve had enough. I’m not able to go into some detail for obvious reasons, but I can STRONGLY advise to invest into a dashcam, one that records both outside and inside views, you could be amazed as to what it records! Over the years there have been incidences that have been recorded on the dashcam that are despicable, there have been tyres put on back to front, then to email me with the service video highlighting the issue, O ring not put on the oil filter properly, complete drain of oil over journey to Brighton stranding me for 5 hours and loosing business. It got to a point where I would only allow one mechanic who was recommended by a friend to work on my car. The final straw came from booking in for a service just before Christmas. I booked three weeks in advance to secure a slot and loan car. The week of the service I was unexpectedly off looking after my wife who had a major operation that week, so the normal level of miles I thought I would do, I didn’t. So, the Friday before the service which was on the Monday, I called the garage to ask would they still do the service as it was around 700 miles short of the exact service mileage, YES, they said, still bring the car in Monday morning for the service. I then arranged for someone to sit with my wife as she couldn’t be left on her own whilst I took the car in and was told on arrival, the car is premature for the service as its 700 miles still to go!!! I was then REMINDED on past conversations I have been informed under the maintenance agreement Mercedes won’t authorise early services or premature replacements. I UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THAT, BUT I CALLED THREE DAYS BEFOREHAND TO CLARIFY THE SITUATION BEFORE ARRANGING CARE FOR MY WIFE AND BRINGING THE CAR IN. HAD I NOT BOTHERED TO DO SO I WOULD ACCEPT THIS! I walked out of the dealership and arranged to get the car serviced by another Mercedes dealer. Its not all about buying a car, it’s the after service that I find more important. It all adds up to a point of complete incompetence. AND TO THEN TO HAVE THE AUDACITY TO REMIND ME OF HOW IT ALL WORKS! SO I can only say, before you buy a car from here, think about the aftercare you will receive, and please please install a dashcam to protect your investment.
