BUYING A CAR

We had a nice experience chatting with Rodger the Salesman at Circle Garage, we went to look at a VW Polo , 2001 , very tidy and nice car , we said we would like to buy it , and I offered to leave a deposit of £100 to hold it . He said the car needed a full check and a service before it could be released , and we were told that it would be sometime in the following week when we could collect the car . In the meantime after driving back to Pompey and the following morning my wife decided she liked there £5500 Corsa more and would like to have that instead , so I rang back in the morning and spoke to the Salesman Rodger, I said to him that Wife had had a change of heart , and that we would not like to buy it , he then said oh ..m well we have done a lot of work to that car on your instruction , "IE the service and checks ", we will not be refunding you deposit , at this point I hadn't had chance to say we wanted to buy the Corsa instead ,so after Rodgers comments I thought I would test the Company's integrity ,so I said come on Rodger we were only in there last night , he basically said your not get your money back , fine I said , how ungentlemanly I thought and said , and I then said that its not about the money , never mind and I hung up .What troubled me was this , we left the Garage at approx. 3pm on Friday , on the basis that we would await a call during the week to collect the car , however when I rang at 9amthe very next morning , the car was complete and ready for collection ,this is why my deposit was not returned, How amazing I thought , in the space of 2 working hours the car has gone from see you in the week to ….ITS READY NOW !.Anything to keep a mans £100 deposit , it was as this point I thought , I will say nothing , I will not argue the toss , if he wants it so bad he can have it , I just wont buy a car form them . The good news is we now have a new car ,its releaved me of £6000 but its very nice and low millage , and not from Circle Cars.
