Using scare tactics to sell cars
I went into Big M Autos looking to part exchange my car. I was offered a pittance for it and when I questioned this, the man reeled off a list of faults that it is apparently due to have. He did not look at my car or at any information about my car to know the condition or what it has/hasn't had done to it, yet he somehow saw into the future and told me that unless I accept his offer, I will find myself driving my "ticking timebomb" on the motorway and breaking down & I'd be screwed. He was so rude, patronising and confrontational that 2 other customers told him that he shouldn't be speaking to me like that, trying to make me too scared to drive my car. I guess as a lone woman, he saw me as an easy target. Thankfully, I had a relative on the phone who is very knowledgeable about cars. As I explained the advice I was given, I was told this relative was on cloud cuckoo and that I'd be stupid not to take his offer. If he thinks that how to sell cars, maybe he should question his own intelligence rather than mine.
