Avoid and save yourself serious trouble

Western Volkwagen Newbridge branch sold me a low mileage used dud in 2016. Six months after their approved used car warranty expired the 1.4 l golf hatchback developed an EPC warning and the engine went into limp mode. I put the car into their Fort Kinnaird branch for a diagnostic. They charged me almost £800 to strip the engine down only to add that the engine would have to be replaced costing almost as much as the cash price of the car. They charged me a further £1,400 to rebuild the engine so that I could remove the vehicle from their premises and avoid paying storage charges. Be wary also of Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) Ltd - they won't hesitate to wash their hands of any responsibility under the Consumer Rights Law.
