Be careful
I bought a BMW earlier in the year from Metro Cars in Chesham and on the whole, have been pretty disappointed with the quality of service from this dealer. On viewing the car, the seller was friendly and approachable and left me alone with the car to make a decision. I noticed a water leak after the test drive but was happy with the way it drove and the overall condition of body and interior was excellent, so made an offer while they looked into the leak. I later called and they couldn't confirm the source of the leak, but I was told they had informed the 'many' other potential buyers it was sold and had removed the advert. I decided to go ahead with the purchase as it wasn't very expensive, and I work in the industry so would be fixing anything discovered myself anyway. After roughly 5000 miles of use, I feel I've given the vehicle a full mechanical overhaul! The list is too long to bore people with, but includes full cooling system refresh, full front and back brake replacement, inspection 2 service that was 10k overdue and among others, various oil leaks that took massive labour (my own) to fix. I am disappointed that a garage highlighting the fact they use the RAC to warranty their vehicles, let this one drive off the forecourt with obviously ZERO time spent inspecting it beforehand. A different buyer could have been bankrupted by this car. Another thing worth noting is that they lost the service book pack between me viewing the car and collecting it. I called a few times after to chase it up and was promised they would send it to me. I ended up being sent someone else's pack instead (with their details and number plate info inside) which I wasn't very impressed with. At least it was the right model I guess! This garage may be friendly and leave you to view the car yourself, but be aware that once you pay a deposit, you are extremely stuck. Be very careful. Most people seem happy with their cars so maybe it was just me. Happy motoring!
