Death Trap

Moses Gate Car Sales, specifically Imran, are LIARS. After purchasing a Landcruiser in May 2018, on the drive home from their yard-space (not some else's plush dealership pictured on their website) the wheel nuts came loose at 70 mph on the motorway. There was a loud bang followed immediately by ferocious vibration and I cannot emphasise enough how close this was to causing a serious incident. The wheel centre cap was lost, one stud sheared off and the other four nuts holding the wheel on were more than finger loose to the point of there being nearly 10cm of travel at the top of the wheel when jacked off the ground at the side of the road. The other three wheels were all loose, but thankfully not as severely. It became apparent that as part of their adding value service of refurbishing the alloy wheels, which Imran took pleasure in informing me, some hero from the dark ages had decided to liberally apply copperease to the studs - this has been recognised as bad practise for many, many years. To cap it off, the nice people had decided to retain the locking wheel nut after half-heartedly refitting the wheels, which meant the remaining locking wheel nuts could not be tightened. When reporting this, Imran informed me that this was my issue, despite quite clearly on the day of purchase agreeing that if there was any non-reasonable wear and tear faults these would be covered by their three month warranty. I advised him that I purchased the car reasonably believing that the wheel nuts would be tight enough for me to get home and that it was a fault as a direct result of them taking the wheels off for refurbishment. When presented with the costs to carry out the repairs at the local Toyota dealer (only as these would be the only guys I could trust now), Imran advised that he would use their "approved repair network" to get the carry out the works at a cheaper cost and supplying parts from lord knows where but, and I quote here, "wheel studs from a Landcruiser we are picking up next week". After weeks of chasing and Imrans promises to rectify the problem, Imran assured that he would sort it out on the Monday. By the Tuesday no-one at the company was answering the phones. Surprise surprise I have still not received the V5, so yet another load of ball-ache and cost for me. The only Director registered with this company at Companies House is Azmet Khan who was not apparent in any of my dealings. These people are an utter disgrace to their trade. I would also question the competence of the MOT station Moses Gate use - Britannia Works, Gower Street, Bolton. Oh, and another thing, despite advertising and stamping the service book with the Moses Gate service stamp that they had changed the cambelt it transpired that they had not as the existing one "looked new" - this is FRAUD. Hopefully the names of these people will come out in the wash and any potential future victims can be warned as I am sure these people will be trading again soon under another name. Reading some of the other reviews here I wonder if I am one of the lucky ones.
