Read before you buy from these people
Hi, read this story and follow what happens then make your mind up wether to buy from West Molesey Cars. First let me say that the car I purchased is 10 years old and I am not expecting a new car without some minor faults, I always allow £500 give or take a bit to get it in the condition I want, let me also say at having inspected the car when I collected it I could see that there were new parts on it new disks at the front and possibly new air con pipes , tyres very good almost new if not new. Service history showed last service was 2 years ago in the service book, I do not mind that because I will have it serviced then I know that it is done to my standard, I will then have it serviced when required and expect to get 3 to 4 years without spending a lot on money on running costs. Now this is when it gets interesting: The car I purchased is a 2008 Citroen Picasso 7 seater. When it was sold to me I was told that the car was in good condition with no faults, I had perviously explained that I live in France and was going to use this car to go from France to Spain on a regular basis and also asked that they please make sure that there is no problem with the car, if they found any problems please tell me and I will pay extra to have problems dealt with in England, (the costs in the UK are much less than in France) so for me that it is a good investment that there are no problems with the car on collection. I was assured all would be well and that I had a 30 day warranty in the event of problems. So, one flight by easy jet to Gatwick from France, two trains, and two bus trips, I arrived at the the garage, paid for the car and set of for the channel tunnel crossing, for me good customer service would be to make sure that there was some fuel in the tank there was none on the fuel gauge and the warning light was on I asked where the nearest fuel station was I told end of the road and turn right, at this point I did not feel comfortable I had paid for the car I felt they just wanted off the forecourt. When I got off the tunnel train and I was setting of to go to 120 miles south to stay the night in a small hotel that I had booked, the engine management warning light came on, so I called into a garage who told me that there was a problem with the diesel particulate filter, they took the fault code of and advised me to have it looked at when I got home, this I did. The quote from the local Citroen garage is now 1115.13 Euro including taxes I collected the car from the garage this morning After talking to Andy yesterday who tried to explain that this fault was not covered by the warranty, I do not understand this and explained that I will make some comprise with the cost of the repair if they pay some and I will (Not happily) he could not make that decision so find out today (I hope) if the garage will part pay for the repair if not I WILL pass it on to my solicitor to recover the cost of repair, I also offered to meet thier driver at the airport he can then take the car back and return the money I paid for it. Next on the list is trading standards, and see what they have to say. I hope I can resolve this with the garage today I will let you know the result, then you will know what this retailer is like.
