Stereotypical 2nd hand car dealer
I like my car. I'm still glad I bought it. Would I buy a car again from Oakwood Harlow? No. To begin, the website gave the impression of a professional sales organisation. How different the reality was. In reality I was just a little worried that in real life these guys could have packed up their operation that night and never be seen again. Regardless, I was looking for a specific motor, and they had one of only two in the country meeting my requirements, so I went ahead. I'm going to be honest. The car looked fine. It was a number of years old, so I knew I had some bargaining power over some minor issues. So after the usual game of "I'll have to discuss that with my boss" we agreed a price and I have my toy. So here's the warning to anyone buying from this place: look past the shiny wash & wax. I want to keep my purchase in excellent condition so I've since taken the car to a specialist and asked them to give me their honest opinion. Engine in poor condition. Water pump about to die (leaking). Track rods and shock mounts need replacing. AirCon doesn't work. Tyres are the cheapest rubbish you could legally put on the car (and not the correct rating). So to bring her back to an acceptable standard I'm now spending about another 3k. Yes, I bought knowing that there would be stuff to do, but in this day and age of open reviews, we should all know what to expect. I expected more.
