Barnetts of Dundee penny pinching
I recently bought a second hand car off Barnetts a main Mazda dealership in Dundee. I bought the car from the dealership only using photos on the internet as I work abroad but the description was described as very good all round and tyres plenty of tread. I bought from a main dealership with confidence that there description was correct and accurate. I travelled by train for six hours to pick the car up and only done a quick visual check round before I set off on six hour journey home after all they said everything was good. While driving the car home from Dundee I noticed the steering wheel pulling to the side more than usual when I reached Stockton where I live I decided on a closer inspection and took the car to C&S tyre distributers in Middlesbrough who I use when needing new tyres. The guy reported both front tyres were running off a lot and the tyres were very close to if not below the minimum tread allowance. The car needed 2 front tyres balancing and tracking which I had done at just under 170.00. I dont expect to pay 12500 for a car the hours later have to put new tyres on. The next day I sent the receipt to Barnetts asking them to refund the money and that the car should never have sold to me with the tyres in that condition and they replied stating the tyres were within the legal limit as stated on the MOT. After many emails and arguing with the after manager Alan he agreed to pay half. Nearly five weeks later and he still has not refunded the agreed half and stopped replying to my request for it he is being obstructive and unacomadating. I have given him every opportunity to put this problem to bed but all he can say is be patient we only have a small team This small amount of cash but its the principal that counts is word or warning to any prospective buyers in my opinion this is not a good honest dealership they are a penny pinching outfit acting like a back street garage.
