Momofthree
We bought a family car. Left the forecourt at around 3.15pm. Drove to my uncles house. Then in our car we went to my dad's house, insured the car etc. At around 7.00pm we left to get petrol and make our way back to Manchester. We put in £40 fuel as car was on red. I had my 2 and 3 year old daughters in with me. My husband had the 6 month old daughter with him. Car would not warm up. It was freezing cold. Luckily I had the girl;s small blankets. I could not speed past 45MPH. When I tried to, nothing would happened and then the accelerator would mad a crunching sound when my foot was on the accelerator. Then the car said pull over, which I did. Car died. after around an hours drive. We were towed off the motorway after an hour. Then waited at a service station with three small children for a further few hours. Freezing cold November. The AA towed it back to the garage who still have our money and their faulty car. I told them we had no faith in the car and wanted our money back at 9am Monday morning when they phoned asking if we were collecting the car which the AA had left there. They said they needed their mechanics report . They do not follow AA report. No apologies or sympathies for what happened. I put then on Notice that I did not want the car and sought a full refund of £1,650 plus £40 fuel. I did not ask for fuel for the other car nor parking fees nor my husband's loss of earning for missing work. Numerous phone calls. Extremely aggressive. Would not listen to us. Seven days after purchase and return they said I had burned out the engine in an hours drive. They said I had been driving around it around. I said check the mileage, I had not. They will only refund me my money if I pay a "contribution" of £350 towards a engine which they state they replaced, even though I had put them on notice. So in summary I drove the car for ten minutes to my uncle's house. Then I collected the car, bought fuel and began my journey home with two small children and I broke down by Stafford. We could have had an accident, My children and I were put in danger. The AA man said numerous things wrong with car and it was towed back to the garage who wont give us our money back. We cannot buy a new car and continue squeezing three small children in a Corsa. How devastating and traumatic this has been for us is unimaginable and exacerbated by the garage, their behaviour towards us and placing the blame on me for an hours drive. stating I did not pull over when the car said pull over. Who would not pull over on a dangerous motorway, at night, and endanger their lives, their children's lives and the lives of others? Had we not had a second car, I dread to think what else could have happened to us. Advice is and has been sought from the relevant agencies.
