Read this before you buy! We've had no car since 29th August 2017. We bought a car, the gearbox failed and they didn't want to know, we had to offer to buy another car otherwise we would have had a £2k bill to replace it. They did agree to swap the car but we spent another £3k, the paperwork showed we traded the car in which we only noticed when the second car failed too. In my view this is very dodgy, we bought the first car for £7.5k and somehow only got £6k when we handed over another £3k for the second car. It now looks like we only paid £9k for a car when we actually spend £10.5k. They didn't declare any of this to us, if they did we would have said no. Stupidly we trusted them completely which was totally abused. So, the second car was booked in for an investigation because there was a juddering, we believe the gearbox was going on this car too but first we trusted their advice to just run the car down of diesel 2 or 3 times until the tank was empty, and fill it up with the expensive diesel. After that didn't work they put some engine cleaner in the petrol tank. Now we realise this was to take us over the 30 days so our right for a refund changed. The day before the car was due to go in for being checked over the oil sump plug fell out and the engine emptied of oil on the M1 putting my whole family in danger as it was peak travelling time. I should add, we have had no apology or empathy for this situation or what we went through and are going through. We have a 6-year-old, 3 years old and a 9 months baby in the car on the side of the M1. The car is at the garage, they have offered to replace the engine but will cost some 2.5kplus. We have rejected this but they want us to claim off WarrentyWise, then the AA and now of our own car insurance. This company just don't take any responsibility or have empathy, we have not even had a sorry. They just keep blaming someone else and pushing us to claim of another company. They have never offered us a loan car so we have had to hire a car, at the time of writing this we have been paying £165 per week car hire and the garage is charging us £25 per day storage. See below section of the email from one of the directors. XXXXXX XXXX@djautos.com *Sep 13* I would suggest you wait to hear from the AA and any further loses should be sent to them directly, finally reference to the additional costs, I have until now been storing the car as goodwill but in light of the continued accusations, should you wish to store the car here its £25 per day. Yours sincerely XXXXXX XXXX We are paying £165 for car hire, its cost us so far £1517.10 in car hire, £460 in oil and gearbox service and 62 x £25 = £1550 in storage. A total bill of £3525 in costs and going up every week and they just ignore us. And last week at half term we had to cancel our only holiday for the year as the car we hire is too small and costs are ramping up. Think twice, be aware of what your rights are, but don't expect this company to abide by them. https://www.retailadr.org.uk/consumer-tips-when-buying-a-new-or-used-car/ When does it end D&J Autos!!!
