With the prospect of a 200 mile round trip to find my sons perfect car, I spent 30 minutes getting sales team to talk me through all the cars key points, good and bad. In short, next to nothing wrong with it. After a 100 mile drive, I only opened the drivers door and saw a 6 inch hole in the roof lining around the passenger door handle. Worse than that, the surrounding area was all completely roughed up. They wouldn't give any discount for the issue. Never mind any compensation for the wasted journey, not even an apology. Even gave them the opportunity to apologise with my email saying we wouldn't be taking the car due to the issue and expressed how, considering the circumstances, I had remained calm and understanding.
