What happened to Bartering ?
I went into Bullitt Cars yesterday to enquire about a Viano I'd been told has been in their showroom for months. The ticket price was £23,500. I offered £23k there and then and was told "no" by someone identifying themselves as the Sales Manager. I offered to leave my mobile number to either review my offer, or pass to his boss. He declined saying there wasn't any point as he wouldn't be calling me. Firstly I'm amazed that any car dealer would be prepared to lose a sale over £500. Secondly, I'm quite sure they have more than a £500 mark up on cars. And thirdly, surely its better to turn stock around rather than having it taking up space. Especially as the vehicle I was interested in, didn't appear to be getting any interest. Maybe today's second hand car sales business model, has changed. It would appear they're too emotionally attached to their stock to part with it. Oh Well, back to a Mercedes Dealership it is, with a fab warranty to boot (pardon the pun).
