Pot kettle black leopard and spots come
Not being one to normally leave reviews I felt compelled to ensure all potential car buyers do their homework on Autoline Of Loughborough and be very wary of their old tricks (after all he has 25 years honing his tricks and boy didn't we see it come out in all its glory!) Bought a car from Clive and explained what I was after, and was assured it had passed its MOT as per the certificate- mistake 1 don't take the MOT certificate from autoline of loughborough to mean it is roadworthy. Within 2 days the exhaust had fallen off (corrosion and verified by a mechanic who fixed it that it had been like that for a long time and not the result of driving over a speed bump as suggested by Clive), rear spring broken (again heavily corroded and independently verified by a mechanic that this had been broken for sometime, and not the result of a speedbump), and the EMS light came on and shut down the engine everything the car drove at 70 mph on the motorway. All this from a car with an MOT passed 3 weeks earlier...!!?? Mistake 2 - don't believe Clive when he says he has driven the car extensively as a local runabout and that there are no problems with it which he has experienced. Mistake 3: trust your instincts and look beyond the tweed cap and fake leather jacket when the guy can't even look you in the eye when it comes time to seek appropriate recourse for the repairs/faulty car which is not fit for the road. I received nothing but accusations from Clive, varying from 'trying it on with him' (to which he surprisingly claims happens all the time) to my integrity in that (I can't prove the broken spring was from my car and it could be from anywhere...). Clive used all his wriggle room and 25 yrs of excuses in avoiding me until I turned up on his doorstep with said broken spring only to see him run off to his car and hide - hardly the behaviour of a credible used car salesman trading on the service cues of a supposed 25 year track record. For all my troubles I received a cheque in the post for £40 - enough said.
