Learnt the hard way

Just sharing my largely negative experience. Now I accept first part of this is my mistake for letting heart rule head. Test drove car and it did have a misfire problem but said all will be sorted and to come up in a week. "probably a bit of damp in the spark plugs" was the excuse used. Came up a week later drove away with car and it worked ok for a few days and all seemed well, misfire began again and realised air leak noise somewhere and im thinking all sorts of expletives. Because of warranty I went to a pre-approved garage. Mentioned air noise problem and said no vacuum leaks, and then coil pack and spark plugs were replaced.. same story again of a few days later same problem. Took it to a garage i know well and found vacuum pipe not connected by throttle body, turbo actuator fault explaining where air leak noise was and finally car had been remapped poorly and causing it to over-fuel. By now warranty company precede to tell me cars r us shouldn't have given me warranty as it had a modified part on engine so they were no longer interested. Tried to get my money back for the car which i was entitled to do as car was not fit for purpose and was in the 30 days after buying and they refused bluntly and kept hanging up after being extremely abusive on calls from both myself and a family member as didn't like confrontation whilst accusing me of tampering with car in mean time. After a long two months, eventually agreed for cars r us to get it fixed but car was whining still after fix completed on car (remap removed and actuator done). Had gearbox refurbished between this assuming the noise was from this as there was slight play in box. (but this was a known issue on car so cant complain there). My partner saw a spit of black gunk come out of exhaust and rev'd car for me to see it do it again which i suspected was oil but wasn't too sure, so took car to them regarding on going whining and it smoking at idle after a few mins along with coolant slowly going down for me to be told adamantly by the boss Graham... "It's not whinding (yes, said like that) butt" then got another car of the same model and parade it in front of me as if it was "normal" to smoke excessively which it clearly wasn't but as they were in the trade for 20 years it meant then knew more than me. I left as i fighting a losing battle trying to prove car still wasn't right and it was all in my head. Wasn't exactly great to see them on the programme "The Sheriffs are coming" and the same attitude was apparent on that not long after this incident so it sums up what they are about and general reviews off this site seem to prove i wasn't the only one who got on the wrong side of these. Month later and the car started to labour on power and noticed water emitting with a sweet smell from exhaust which i suspect is where coolant was going, oil was almost empty and from then on in I knew it was time for it to go so i part ex'd and lost half the money i paid in 8 months of ownership. Would advise anyone to think twice about going to them as it seems they buy cars from auctions and bodge them together to flog for a quick buck. I bought a dud and they were extremely unhelpful in aftercare with pathetic lies and nasty attitude from both Anthony & Graham.
