Wont give me my deposit back

I put a £500 deposit on a Citroen dropside pick up on the first of march 2017 with a sales consultant called Christian skene, the price for the pickup was £15,995, I told them I didn't mind a 16 plate because I just wanted a new cheap pickup, i was happy with the price but a bit more than I wanted to pay, I went on the internet to see what pickup I've bought, Arnold Clark link came up selling the same pickup for £13,995 its new but registration is June 2016 with 10miles on clock, exactly what I wanted, phoned vans direct on the second of march 2017 (all within 24 hours ) I cancelled the order with them & asked for my £500 deposit back, I never signed anything, Christian skene very Helpful when selling didn't want to know when i asked for money back, he told me his manager would phone me, 3 days later a man phoned me called Ian Williams ( what a arsehole ) not a very nice man, he told me outright I have lost the £500 deposit because of all the work they put in, ( what work ) if they knocked £100 of deposit & gives me £400 back I would have been happy, I've been in touch with trade & standards to see if I can get my money back, since then I've bought the Citroen relay from Arnold Clark for £13,995,
