Broke my car with Diesel Emission Update
I brought my Audi A6 Avant to Audi Amersham in November 2024 for a routine service, having just paid £521 for a service plan from Audi UK. Without warning or informed consent, they installed a software update. I was told after the fact it was a gearbox tweak, but it was later admitted to be emissions-related. From that moment on, the car developed severe faults: extreme revving, harsh gear changes, and loud engine noise. Even Audi’s senior technician confirmed the issue during a test drive, but no solution was ever delivered. Four months later, after driving over 250 miles a week in that condition, the car suffered full mechanical failure. I was offered £9,000, then £4,500 to settle the complaint, then told to “dispose of the vehicle.” I ended up scrapping a £16,000 car for £2,000. No accountability. Just delay, avoidance, and generic responses. Let’s wait for the next copy-paste reply saying, “we value your feedback and will share it with the management team.” And still, no actual action.
