Possible taking advantage

My daughter’s car broke down and was referred to stoneacre. It arrived on a recovery vehicle. The auxiliary belt had snapped, tangled itself around the water pump and broke the pump itself. The garage quoted nearly £900. I made sure we had received a full description of the work that needed to be done and rang Kia Scunthorpe. They quoted circa £305 plus approx £12 for a replacement belt. When I asked how much would there be for fitting and they said that was the fixed price to replace the pump, including labour. So, was it misdiagnosed or did someone see it was a young lady with a recovered car? Was her vulnerable interests taken into consideration or did the garage act solely in their interests? A local Lincoln Independant quoted £325 all in. We are very thankful for the time that stoneacre took to look after a young venerable lady however because of the possibility that she was being taken advantage of we will be taking the car elsewhere. I stress I’m not making any allegations of cowboy practices and the reader must make up their own minds.
