Avoid at all costs
If you're thinking about buying a car, stay far away from Apex Performance Cars in Huddersfield. I purchased a 2019 Jaguar E-Pace from them in July 2024. Everything seemed fine initially, but once the weather started to cool down, I noticed a tapping sound coming from the engine on colder mornings. The noise went away once the engine warmed up, so I reached out to the garage in October 2024. They advised me to get a diagnostic, which I booked with a local Jaguar specialist. The earliest appointment was on November 28th, and the results revealed that the car needed a new engine. I contacted Apex and sent them the diagnostic report, but they told me it was out of warranty and that it wasn’t their problem. After just three months of owning the car, I was left with a vehicle with a damaged engine, and the garage refused to help. Luckily, I had purchased the car through finance, so I filed a complaint with them on December 8th, 2024. I was advised not to drive the car, so it was parked up. On January 8th, 2025, I took the car to a main dealer for a second opinion. Initially, they confirmed it needed a new engine, which would cost around £15,000. However, after further diagnostics, they concluded that it actually needed a new timing chain and cams. I submitted the updated report to the finance company, but Apex still refused to do anything. By March 2025, I had been without a car for almost four months. With a disabled child and no way to transport them safely, our savings had been drained from spending thousands on diagnostics, alternative transport, and maintenance costs for a car I couldn't even drive (including finance payments, tax, and insurance). Finally, after a lot of back-and-forth, Apex agreed to cover the repair costs. If I hadn’t had the backing of the finance company and their legal team, this could have dragged on even longer, possibly leading to a court case. Apex refused to take responsibility despite consumer rights laws that clearly state the garage is responsible for any issues within the first six months. Take my advice and stay clear of Apex Performance Cars in Huddersfield. They’ll happily take your money but won’t care when things go wrong.
