Seemned like a good idea at the time
I was looking for a cheaper car to manage the my old Range Rover and noticed they had a 5 Series BMW with 23k on the clock. I drove over after a brief text exchange and saw Jason, who basically offered me nothing for the RR and mentioned they wouldn't likely want to buy it, this is despite me buying it from them the year before and sorting the issues out that I had with the car myself. So I left. Dom later called me and offered what I wanted for the RR and so we agreed a deal. I drove to the forecourt and asked to drive the BMW. It drove like a Jelly. I noted a gearbox issue to which Jason shouted me down and said it was not likely. Another drive was done and they noted warped front discs. So we drove to the workshop and they replaced the front discs whilst I waited. I noted a leak of water behind the drivers wheel..... We agreed the deal, I paid in total £17k which included £11k for the RR. I drove the car away and warning lights appeared on the dash. The pedestrian protection system, the washer bottle low warning and noted the car still shook when going into or out of drive. The same shaking I had noted on the initial drive which Jason had shouted me down over. I called Dom and told him I was certain it needed Gearbox mounts and probably engine mount as well. Also I noted the car mats were not supplied and he mentioned he would buy them. I also mentioned the faults on the dash and asked for the car to be repaired. I was told to take it to the workshop and leave it with them. It stayed with them for 2 weeks. The gearbox mounts were shot and were replaced. The washer bottle was also replaced and the wiring was repaired for the pedestrian protection system fault. I collected the car and drove home. The car still wobbled when going in or out of drive but not as much. I suspected that engine mounts were also needed. The rear discs were also warped, this was easy to recognise as the wobble got a lot worse when the brakes were applied. I still had no paperwork and no mats. 4 mismatched cheap tyres, a wobble when going into or out of drive, warped discs on the back, no carpets, no book pack or service history and not even an invoice and it had already spent 2 weeks in the workshop. I messaged Dom and asked for my money back. He told me to book the car into the workshop to get it sorted. I dropped the workshop manager a text and I have heard nothing since. So I have paid £17k for a 9 year old BMW which needs rear discs, engine mounts, carpets (which I have now bought because I was not prepared to wait any longer for) has no paperwork,( I was told it was sitting in the office?) no service history, one key and cheap mismatched tyres. The funny thing here is that my asking them to rectify the issues and honour what was agreed at the point of sale makes me out to be the bad guy. I would not recommend this car dealership. Yes I made mistakes as well in that I handed over the money before it had been properly and fully sorted. But I trusted them. I won't again.
