I would give a 0 rating if i could VW City gate Watford’s customer service has been non existent. Watford Citygate is a disgrace & if they continue to work like this they will go out of business very soon. Having ordered a brand new car from them in July, and being offered to collect “in a couple of weeks”(August) I said I’d prefer to wait for the new number plate as this makes a difference when it comes to selling. I was then offered to collect first week of September which I said as I was out of the country for 3.5 weeks & would prefer to collect it on my return. A date was agreed & I looked forward to collecting my new car on my return. Having not heard from them at all, I sent an email 5 days before to confirm collection date, advising that I’d come in around 2pm. I had no response at all until I arrived in the country to which I received an email to say “ car is delayed, you can’t collect it till next year”! I called up saying that this isn’t acceptable, everything had been agreed & arranged 3 months earlier - so what had changed? My salesman wouldn’t speak to me but the “manager” stated that there was an issue with manufacture which was why I couldn’t collect. Doesn’t make sense that I was offered to collect my car twice & it was then delayed in manufacture! I was offered to collect a car in the same colour with no less spec than ordered, or a car with a similar spec in a different colour. Why should I have to compromise because the salesman didn’t do his job! I spent weeks choosing the car I wanted only to be let down. I then received an email from my salesman saying it was his day off, but they have located a vehicle with the spec requested in the same colour that I would be able to collect the following week. He would call me the next day when he was back to discuss this further. Four days passed with no contact which was when I decided enough was enough and it was time to go elsewhere. I called VW, asked them to cancel my order & refund my deposit as I was going elsewhere. Days passed with no refund & no contact. I called and asked again twice to no avail! Having got nowhere with Watford I called CityGate Head Office who were just as useless. No chance of any customer service unless I call & email constantly to ask for updates. Having purchased my last 5 cars from VW Watford, I have now changed to a different manufacturer- solely because of the lack of customer service received by VW! I would recommend anyone wanting to purchase a car to go to anywhere other than Watford as they have ZERO interest in looking after their customers!
