I bought a Mercedes ML from Brian at BJ Car Sales in Tadworth when we were expecting our first child in April 2012, we wanted a big safe car for the family. I paid £16.000.00 We had taken a loan out, put some savings and part exchanged our Audi TT. On the day we were going to pick up the car Brian said he would drop it off. When Brian and his son dropped the car off later that night he said the battery was flat and he could not start it? alarm bells should have started ringing. Our daughter was born in April and we had a dry start to the year, the problems started when we had a bit of rain, the alarm started going off, when we were driving the lights would go on and off (very scary when your driven at night) and the lights would stay on causing the battery to go flat. I called Brian and he said it was just out side the 3 month guarantee and he was not interested. I went to Mercedes in Guildford and the said there was a big problem with the electrics in the boot of the car, the water was getting in and was causing the problems, it was going to be expensive I think £3500 was the price and that may not fix all the problems, I was so fed up with the car I asked what would they give me for the car, they said its worth 7k I nearly cried. I called Brian back and asked would he pay half £1750 to try and get the car fixed, he said NO, I said you have ripped me off and i was going to take further action, he said "go ahead it was not the first time some threatened to take him to court" I could not afford to take him to court and could not afford £3500 to fix it. I found a place in Send that fixed Mercedes and they were great. I got one of the boards replaced for £600 The guy said the car was knackered and he would recommend selling to avoid further costs. So I did, I sold it for £10.000.00 taken a loss off over £6.000.00 in less than a year. I run my own business and have not had time nor money to pursue this but i feel i need to say something so no one else gets loses money on a car by buying from BJ Car Sales in Tadworth.
