ADVISED NEW MOT BUT IT WAS A FAIL !!
I completed purchase of car 23.3.24, promised new MOT, Steve had to have known it failed MOT on 19.3.24, DVLA obviously not immediately informed as I renewed tax, ownership etc. without any problems, I was of course unaware of the fail at the time. Car ok, a few days later most dash lights on, car collected, advised sensors, ok? All fixed and car returned but the following morning I noticed filthy, heavy duty jump leads and battery on rear seat, Extra mileage and lower fuel gauge, obviously my car had been used for a recovery, it was hard work cleaning seat. Steve was amused!! All appeared ok, I was then away for a couple of months, also Ill at the time. I kept requesting service history, MOT and a spare key, never any response! When I returned home I had a stroke so obviously couldn't drive for a while, beginning of September bank DD to DVLA failed, I tried again, checked online, only then discovered it had failed the MOT, I had been driving for months with no MOT, consequently no insurance, breakdown cover etc. Thank you Steve!! I contacted company, not a great deal of help, then no responses at all, next step Trading Standards, on their advice, I sent a template letter with 7 day deadline, car was then collected and MOT'd (adjacent unit?) but it took 2 weeks, really inconvenient obviously. Steve thought he was being generous returning car to my address? According to Trading Standards it was sellers responsibility! They advised getting car checked at local garage following MOT, I haven't but know I should! Steve promised he would forward service history, hard copy MOT and details re spare key, I have tried to contact them on several occasions, they now do not respond to me at all and office phone put down, no response on any of numerous phones Steve has! No Service History, No hard copy MOT (I have printed an online copy (with advisories!) No Spare Key (I even agreed to share cost of this. I really thought this old type of car salesman was a caricature and consigned to the dim and distant past!!! With a little honesty and decency this whole sorry saga could easily have been avoided.
