ILLEGAL TACTICS!! TOTALLY UNETHICAL!!!
BUYER BEWARE, ILLEGAL TACTICS AND TOTALLY UNETHICAL!!! I have NEVER before left a negative review for any business until now! To help others make an informed decision on buying from Peter and David at Village Cars Cobham, I decided to post this review. UNETHICAL BUSINESS! ILLEGAL TACTICS!! WARRANTY NOT HONOURED!! Bought our Kia Ceed with 74,000 Miles on the odometer and a 3 month warranty, which swayed our decision to buy. We had mechanical problems within the FIRST FEW WEEKS! Needing complete new Pulleys and Belts System, Alternator and Air conditioning pump! As these problems occurred in Scotland, we phoned Village Cars Cobham to let them know that there were problems with the car and we were taking the car to an independant garage in Scotland. Initially they said they would 'contribute' to repair costs for the Pulley and Belts System. HOWEVER, after the car being repaired and paid for by ourselves, they then denied any responsibility for repairs, saying 'mis-diagnosis' of the pulleys system and accusing the Scot garage of "Ineptitude". REGARDLESS of refusing to have phone interaction with the independant mechanic and, as requested, the broken parts being given to them later for their inspection (they didn't bother to look at them and we still have them). We were left paying the TOTAL repair bill ourselves, PLUS we were stranded for 2 WEEKS without a car! YES, of course we had appropriate insurance but, that would have been more expensive to use!! Carriden Garage in Bo'ness, Scotland, who we highly recommend and are grateful to, also diagnosed the Alternator and Air conditioning pump as faulty. Village Cars insisted that we bring the car to them in Surrey to fix those things, (from Scotland)???, No choice but to comply. They did repair Air-Con pump and Alternator with 2nd hand parts. HOWEVER, David actually tried to tell us we may have to pay for the Air Conditioning Pump replacement & repair... Under Warranty?????? UPDATE: ILLEGAL TACTICS USED! 4 months later, Village Cars finally agreed to pay HALF of the repair bill, £200. BUT....ONLY..... IF WE REMOVED THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS WE LEFT THEM! After informing Village cars that we had spoken to Police and that their tactics in refusing recompense unless we removed said reviews, were ILLEGAL, we then informed them that we were now going to pursue our Consumer and Legal Rights - After 4 MONTHS and willing to take HALF of the repair bill cost..... The VERY next day, Village Cars transferred £200 into our account! I have emails from Village Cars substantiating these sordid email conversations demanding we remove reviews and personally attacking me, which I am more than happy to share! (Please refer to photos). If it was like this over a £400 bill, what would it have been like if the repair bill had been a costly one????? UNBELIEVABLY UNETHICAL BUSINESS!!! COMPLETE LACK OF INTEGRITY!!!! TOTALLY DISGUSTED!!!UNETHICAL
