STAY AWAY!

DONT BUY! Purchased a Jaguar XF from Douglas, low mileage and full history. Upon driving the car it had an aggressive gear change from 2nd to 3rd, i was told this was normal for a jaguar. Its not. I ended up spending close to £1,000 to get repairs done to the gearbox. I was told by Douglas that the timing belt had been changed on this engine as there was a sticker with the dealer stamp next to it in the service book, i foolishly believed him. I contacted said garage to enquire if it was a complete kit or just a belt replaced. They pulled up the invoice and told me they never even offered to replaced the timing belt as they didn’t have the tooling to do the job, however it did have a full service and it was recommended to have a belt change. The sticker present had the exact date and mileage from the garage done the service but the garage never carried the timing belt work out. We are led to believe that the sticker put into the service book is a complete forgery from Douglas to sell the car, now going to cost me a further £1,000 to get the timing and high pressure pump belts replaced. Worse part about it is the car has started to have a rattle on cold start and the garage is led to believe the timing link chains are worn and also need replacing at a further £1,000 while the timing belts are being replaced. This all happened within 30 days of purchasing the car, the warranty is completely useless which i also paid extra to extend. Douglas is completely ignoring my calls and messages which isn’t a surprise looking at other reviews. Don’t make a mistake and pay any of your hard earned money to this con artist of a car dealer.
