Major Issues and Deceptive Practices – A

Legal Action Required: Daniel at TC&C Ltd is Refusing to Honour My Consumer Rights after selling me a faulty car. I purchased a Land Rover Range Rover Evoque from Trade Cars & Commercials in March 2024, and the experience has been appalling. Daniel, the dealer, has repeatedly refused to acknowledge my consumer rights and is uncooperative, making legal action necessary. Within the first month of ownership, I encountered several issues. The check engine light illuminated due to an exhaust system fault, and shortly after, a "battery low" message appeared. The replacement battery provided was neither like-for-like nor as recommended by a specialist Land Rover mechanic whom Daniel consulted with the car. The problems escalated from there. The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) unexpectedly filled up, causing the car to enter limp mode, and high oil dilution was discovered along with multiple intermittent errors in the car's ECU. Most recently, water ingress into the front passenger footwell raised serious concerns about potential past water damage. This issue arose while the car was in the dealership's possession, despite Daniel’s assurances that there were no underlying issues with the vehicle before I picked it up. When contacted about this new issue, Daniel claimed it was not present at the point of sale. However, given that these issues occurred only three months into ownership, it is clear that they must have been present or developing at the time of sale. Despite numerous attempts to resolve these issues with the dealership, Daniel showed a complete lack of responsibility. I was without my car for almost a month during this three-month period due to delays in getting the car looked at, which was incredibly inconvenient. When I called to inquire about when the car could be inspected, Daniel hung up on me. Attempts to obtain clear information about the repairs, particularly regarding the battery, went unanswered. Following the DPF repair, I observed soot build-up on the exhaust just six days after use and an alarming increase in oil dilution, indicating ongoing issues. The vehicle was advertised as being in "stunning condition," "meticulously maintained," "luxurious," and having "1 owner," but the numerous significant problems and the V5C suggest otherwise. Now, I am left with a faulty vehicle and no accountability from Daniel at TC&C Ltd. Instead of addressing my legitimate complaints and legal rights, Daniel has blocked me on the business Facebook page, demonstrating a refusal to engage constructively and resolve these issues. This unprofessional and petty action underscores their unwillingness to address customer concerns. This experience has completely shattered my trust in TC&C Ltd. The lack of transparency, poor customer service, and misrepresentation of the vehicle's condition have been extremely disappointing and frustrating. I strongly advise potential buyers to exercise extreme caution and consider my experience before making a purchase from this dealership. Save yourself the stress and avoid Trade Cars & Commercials. Moreover, Daniel has employed a fake solicitor in an attempt to force me to keep a problematic car, falsely claiming I do not have the right to reject it. Thankfully, the Consumer Credit Act 1974 provides protection in this situation, and I continue to seek a full refund and compensation through my credit card. To make matters worse, Daniel at TC&C Ltd has also breached several aspects of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by mishandling my Subject Access Request and disclosing the previous owner's details in documents included with the car. I am currently in the process of addressing these violations. I urge anyone considering a purchase from TC&C Ltd to think twice. The company's refusal to honour consumer rights, coupled with their misleading practices and disregard for data protection laws, highlights a fundamental lack of integrity and professionalism. Protect yourself and avoid the stress I have endured.”
