be wary
Very much in the old school of car dealers - just missing the sheepskin coats and dodgy hats. Whatever you do, don't place a deposit on a car, for a starter, the £99 deposit they will quote to reserve a car doesn't actually do that - they openly admitted to me that they would sell the car despite you having placed the deposit and would take multiple £99's from different customers on the same car - so what is the point of that? What they will try and do is get you to uplift the deposit to £500 which does then 'reserve' the car, take it off sale, and allows them to have it prepared, valeted, MOT'd etc for when you visit. But note that under no circumstances is this deposit in any way or part refundable. In our case, despite assurances after placing the higher deposit, the car was 'cleaned' but not valeted to a 'showroom standard'. So by all means, place a £500 deposit on a car so you can go and see it, but be prepared to lose it if you are then not happy with the car (for whatever reason). Don't think that distance selling regs will help you out here because they have that covered. Their blunt refusal to be reasonable, given quite extenuating circumstances, was frankly shocking. To add to this, while we were in the sales office, they had at least 3 calls from disgruntled customers, which could be overheard and resembled a very shoddy operation where customer satisfaction and comeback post-sale is non-existent. So again, if you are prepared to drive away and never look back then fine, but if you are relying on any glimpse of good post-sales or remediation, then forget it. In the end we came to an agreement and I drove the car away, but it was wholly unnecessary, unpleasant, and not to be repeated. Most definitely the worst car buying experience ever, stick to the reliable names, pay a bit more for some peace of mind and assurance. On balance though, they seem to shift lots of cars so must be doing something right, just a shame that they are firmly planted in the old school of customer management, with zero tolerance to their unpublished and undisclosed 'policies'. Car dealers used to have a bad reputation, I thought those days were long gone, it seems not. This review should not come as a surprise, I gave the company every opportunity to redress the situation but they chose to stick to their guns. To top it off, since buying the car I've had two phone calls from them asking if I am still interested in buying the same car! Be wary ...
