Country Car Sales Ltd - New Car Owner
I would like to provide some information with regards to my recent experience with this car sales outlet………… From the description detailed on their website “All vehicles are serviced if required and a 90-point vehicle check is undertaken to ensure the vehicle is suitable for sale”, Unfortunately, this was not the case with me when I recently purchased a vehicle from Country Cars Sales Ltd. I purchased a car on 19th December 2023 £9,490.00 for my wife’s Christmas present. We had the car two days and noted the inside of the car appeared to be filling with fumes and a significant rumbling noise from both rear wheels when driving. I had the car checked and the findings were: 1. no oil in the engine due to a major oil leak 2. a botched breather pipe split and taped up with gaffer tape. 3. issues with the rear wheels - bearing or tyres. I reported this to the Country Car Sales, they accepted the vehicle back for repairs. We got the car back after a week, all appeared to be in working order. In February I paid for a full service myself at a garage as it was well over-due. The service report identified the car battery needed replacing, the rear wiper blade needed replacing due to the main rubber section being missing AND a fuel filter needed changing. A few days later a warning light came on after the car lost power when being driven. The AA were called out, this was identified as an air mass air sensor issue. We reported this to Country Cars Sales Ltd, they agreed to again undertake the repairs. Repairs all completed, and the car returned to us. Approx 2 weeks later a further warning light on the dash and power loss again. Yet again AA called out, reported as Particulate Filter System. I contacted Country Car Sales Ltd (Simon) and stated I wish to return the car and receive a full refund of £9490.00 as it was not fit for purpose when sold to me. Simon stated, he understood my disappointment and would speak with his colleague Mannie, but I could not receive a refund apparently. Mannie then contacted me suggesting I take the car to my garage who undertook the service, diagnose the error code, Country Cars will cover the cost of this check. I did not want the car as I had zero confidence in it being a safe reliable car, repaired or not. I took the vehicle into Mini for a complete diagnostic check at my cost - £220.00. The findings identified the Particulate Filter system needed replacing at a cost of £3658.77. I informed Mannie and send him the report and quote for the repairs by Mini. Mannie replied he has a BMW expert who can undertake the repairs, which would consist of a “flushing out of the system, not a replacement” at a cost of £749.10. I told Mannie yet again I didn’t want the car anymore as I don’t have any confidence in the vehicle, due to the number of previous issues . I also advised that I had since sought legal advice in respect of a full refund. Mannie kindly took the liberty by insulting me, he offered to purchase the vehicle back for a trade price of £8000 – despite the issues not being our fault and only driving the car for a couple of months on and off! Upon checking the warranty the car came with, it will ONLY cover 1 x claim of a repair cost at maximum claim = £1000.00 ONLY, I am now having to pay for the repairs. End - Result = left with a car with faults and apparently it will cost me more money than the car is worth seeking a legal claim against Country Car Sales Ltd. Please be warned when purchasing a second-hand vehicle, do your own due diligence, sadly I trusted this outlet. If you do intend to purchase a Vehicle from Country Car Sales Ltd, get an independent 90-point check done as it may save you a lot of money and aggravation. We are waiting for the dashboard to light up like a Christmas tree with further faults! Thanks Country Car Sales Ltd! In my opinion, would I recommend this company – NO!
