Time wasters
Please don’t waste your time travelling any distance to look at a car from this garage. Customer service is definitely not high up on the list of priorities for them and you could end up leaving amazed and annoyed like I did. I had phoned up on Sunday to arrange to view a car and was told that although the garage was shut, I could book an appointment over the phone to view it the following morning (absolutely fair enough) - and I provided all the usual details including my phone number to contact me on. The next day, having driven almost an hour to get to the garage for my morning appointment, I was told upon arrival that the car was unavailable. When I queried why nobody had phoned me and saved me the wasted journey, I was met with a shrug and a somewhat ‘convenient’ excuse that someone had viewed the car on Saturday had paid a deposit online “25 minutes ago” to secure the vehicle. What was quite clear, in actual fact, was that Perry’s either don’t do their due diligence and check the vehicle status prior to customer appointments, or (if the excuse was actually true) simply don’t care enough to do the courtesy of letting customers know if there’s another interested party with a deposit pending. Again, had it been true that the car sold 25 minutes ahead of my appointment, a phone call at that point would have meant I could have turned back around and saved myself both the petrol and effort - and I’d have been very thankful for that. As I was being told by the salesman about the car being sold, the “manager” came out. Perhaps stupidly, I had assumed this would be to apologise and to assure me that this wasn’t the usual level of service I could expect etc etc. Instead, he rudely ignored me and muttered something to the salesman about the car. I asked the manager if there were any other cars of the same make and model on site for me to look at instead, to which he simply muttered to the salesman to check the internet, before scuttling back off. He couldn’t have cared less about making amends - or another sale - if he tried. It turned out that there was, in fact, another car of the same make and model for sale, but the salesman said he didn’t know the difference between the specs on the two cars so couldn’t say if it was worthwhile even looking. One might expect a bit more knowledge on the subject matter - or simply just an interest in finding out, but there was neither. And with that, I lost all interest too. As such, we left Perrys, bemused, disappointed and without so much as a sorry for the shambolic experience. From what I have seen, Perrys are incompetent, unreliable time wasters who don’t appear to care if they have your business or not. If you’re thinking of buying from this company and are travelling some distance to do so, you might want to make a few phone calls to them whilst en route just to be sure there’s something to be had at the end of it (and before someone swoops in to seal the deal 25 minutes before you)…. Don’t bypass the negative online reviews of this place as I had done - there’s truth in them. Think I had a lucky escape.
