DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER
Firstly, this dealer, Robert Smith, is a #. Secondly, he has rebranded his company 3 times due to previous closures. Lastly, he is #and horrendously #. I bought a Volkswagen Polo from this man January 2023. I was in desperate need of a car for transport to my university course at the time, and with the car being of fair price, I travelled approximately 67miles to purchase this car. As a young female, he has obviously taken advantage, and told me I would get all the documentation via email, as he is now ‘paperless’. This was my first car I have bought on my own, so I assumed this was normal. Nonetheless, I never received the documentation, despite making many formal requests. However it is sutuated on both auto trader and his website that all his cars come with a 12 month warranty and citizens advice have informed me that this would hold up in court. The first issue to come of the car was leakage of the coolant pump. I asked Mr Smith many times to collect the car and repair it, as the coolant would completely drain after 6/7 miles of driving, making the car inroad worthy and unsafe. Mr Smith initially demanded I drive the car to him (67miles away). However, after many back and forth emails, he arranged for my car to be taken away, fixed and brought back to me. From his very inprofessional behaviour, I did not trust him and took a photo of my mileage before the car was towed. Only to have my car back to me, with an extra 27 miles. His response when questioned was “I needed it for another job”. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Moving on to the final incident. Once my car was returned, I was able to use it for just over a week before another issue arose. This time, the coolant in the car was unable to pass through the coolant pump and reach the engine, meaning my engine was over heating anytime the car reached over 45/50mph. Again, this left the car unsafe and unroadworthy. I contacted Mr Smith and he replied “if you get it to me, I will fix it”. I, again, told him the extent of the issue and that it was unsafe to drive on the motorway. Mr Smith chose to ignore me and repeat “if you get the car here, I will fix it”. Therefore, I had advice from citizens advice and his 12 month warranty states that cars unable to drive yet be towed. I made Mr Smith aware of the data stated in his warranty. However, he displayed very inappropriate behaviour and was unprofessional throughout. He also caused me excess stress and anxiety as I was without a car for months and ended up £2000 out of pocket for something that he was responsible for. At the time of this, he made me feel extremely small and #me into not wanted contact with the man. Therefore, I finished my university course before proceeding with legal action. Therefore, I have no submitted an ADR to trading standards and this will be dealt with in court. So please, if you do not want the stress I have endured, do not purchase anything from this man. If you have already purchased a vehicle from this man and are in a similar situation, then ensure you take legal action immediately, and do not give Mr Smith the opportunity to # you too.
