Staff repeating themselves and not keeping us updated. A major problem with the car which still hasn't been resolved. No courtesy car given in the meantime to compensate for public transport for nearly 3 weeks for both me and my husband to get back and for to work and take our child to nursery. We payed more than enough for the car and with it being a brand new car 21 plate you don't expect it!! Overall would not recommend buying a car here and have also warned friends, family and work colleagues to not visit here. Extremely upset and disappointed in car shop. Sienna-Mae Yates 10 reviews GB Rated 1 out of 5 stars Updated 2 days ago Never met with so many barriers trying to buy a 3 yr old vehicle... Currently in the process of trying to buy a Suzuki swift from them (GP21 FYX), arranged an appointment to go down tomorrow afternoon (6th Feb) to collect said vehicle. David, from your Cardiff branch advised me this afternoon that our lender (First Response Finance) is not an "approved" lender of theirs and subsequently isnt on their "system" of accepted lenders. He also commented that he'd never heard of them before (despite the fact they have a host of multiple 5* reviews, have been operating since 1998 and their website confirms they have won the Sub-prime Finance Provider of the Year' five years running and has seen them rated as the UK's number one motor finance lender on Review Centre.) Our broker, Happy Motor Finance, have the funds ready to be released but has been constantly stalled every time they have called or emailed to resolve this. I said to David a moment ago, "we want to buy a car, surely you (carshop) want the sale for the car?" He told me it was not as straightforward as this and couldn't give me a timescale for when First Response finance will be approved (if at all?). When I asked if the process would be expedited if we still turned up for our collection appointment tomorrow afternoon he again could not give me any kind of assurance. I can only assume that business must be booming right now and that they clearly dont want (need) the sale that we are offering to make. Their sales rep Darius that we met with on 27th January to view/test drive the Suzuki was even made aware of the finance company that we'd been accepted for, subject to me obtaining evidence that I'd even gone as far as paying my IVA off early and not once did he or anyone else we dealt with that day inform us that they are not on their "system". When I asked David why we werent made aware of this at the time, he said Darius wouldn't have known this? Hmm surely as a sales advisor you would assume one has the ability to check what outside lenders they are prepared to accept...it seems not. They also persuaded my husband to make a sole application for their own finance, to try and speed up the fact that I was waiting for a document to evidence my IVA clearance. A soft search had come back as "good" so we went ahead with the application in just my husband's name. We were passed to Les, who deals with the finance side of things. Nothing bad to say about him but when he submitted the application, it came back as "referred". At this point he stated that this was a good sign because if my husband had been refused point blank, it would have come back with "declined" straight away. We took Les' word for this and went and sat back in the waiting area. After about 30-45 mins Les came back to say that the application hadnt been accepted by Motonovo's panel of other lenders and that he'd been referred to a broker called Evolution finance and to possibly expect a phone call any time between then and 29th Jan (Mon). With that, we left the carshop having already wasted over 4 hours of our time, came home in the vehicle we got a (reduced) valuation price on and proceeded to wait for a call from Evolution. No one from Evolution called. Apart from some random emails from what seems like various lenders saying a search had been done and he'd be declined, we werent hopeful for a successful outcome. We then received a call the following day (28th Jan) at 10.32am from Rob, Finance Specialist at Carshop, telephone 01302 490745 initially telling my husband that the sole application he'd made the previous day "had come back looking really good" and that he was as I quote "essentially just calling him up to have a little chat, go into a bit more detail and then send it off to see if we can get you eligible for finance ". He then proceeded to ask my husband why he was looking for a new car etc. My husband asked if I could take over the conversation as I'd been dealing with pretty much every party concerned to date. When I assumed they were calling to tell Ian that he'd been accepted for finance via Evolution, and I enquired if they had managed to beat First Response Finance's APR, Rob stated that Ian had in fact been declined completely and that Carshop werent able to offer him any finance at all. I asked why he was ringing then and why he said "it had come back looking really good" if the application has resulted in a complete decline and a record of said declined hard search now being recorded on my husband's credit file. Rob did not seem to get the gist of my concerns. I suggest that Darius and your other sales staff are given access to the approved list of lenders, that Les is retrained in the definition of "referred" and the likelihood of being declined & that Rob is taught the difference between good and bad news. UPDATE...took our custom elsewhere where staff have shown better competence, professionalism & respect than these...
