Worst car I have ever bought!!
The actual experience of buying my car from Northover was very good. I arrived at the sales court without prior arrangement but was seen to and whilst they the car I eventually bought, the salesman gave me £20 to go to the local cafe to buy something to eat as the cafe didn’t accept card. I part exchanged my basic e class for a top of the range e class worth £21k which with the part ex I paid almost £8k. I took the basic warranty as a previous Mercedes owner I knew how good they were and did not envision issues in the near future. About 6 months of ownership, I had parked at a supermarket to do my weekly shopping and upon returning I noticed some liquid under the car. Anyways drove the quick 5 mins home and then popped the bonnet open to see if the liquid was a leak from my car and was shocked with what I found. The adblue pipe which connects to the engine had been leaking and it looks like it had been for a while as the liquid had crystallised around majority of the pipes in the engine bay. The engine bay also stunk of burning smell which I couldn’t make out why. In utter shock, I checked my warranty but found it has run out a few days prior. Anyways I called my local and trusted garage who advised me not to drive the car but to bring it in, in 4 days for a diagnosis. 4 days came and I went to start the car in order to take it to the mechanics, I was shocked with happened next. A warning came up on the dash that my Power Assisted Steering had malfunctioned and no longer operative. Now imagine trying to steer an e class without power steering. Anyways few days later the mechanic came and towed the car to the garage, and his diagnosis, the arbour had been leaking for a while possibly even before I had bought the car but due to it not being picked up earlier, the leak had made its ways to the steering rack and damaged that plus some of the cable etc which was what was causing the burning smell from the engine bay. So now to fix the car, I need a new steering rack, adblue injector, adblue cable, vales etc. basically my car will take at least 2 weeks to repair at a price of £4860 😭. I never thought in my wildest nightmare that this would happen to me. I have bought cars in the past and never had any problems near this. The fact that the leak could have been there even before i bought the car really pisses me off that I was sold the car in this condition. Anyways my car is still at the mechanics, and I am currently trying to gather the money in order to get the repairs done. Although the experience during the purchase of the car was lovely, unfortunately I was sold a damaged car(perhaps Northover knew about it or perhaps they did not) and would therefore never purchase from them again. I will advise all to stay clear.
